Best Baby Congestion Remedies:

Spring is here, and with it comes the dreaded allergy season! The change in weather, pollen, and allergens seem to trigger runny noses, itchy eyes, and irritated skin for both kids and adults alike. My son RO, who’s 4, had an allergy test last year and, poor guy, he’s allergic to a lot of nuts and pollen. He loves soccer, but his doctor recommended that he wear a mask while playing or take second-generation antihistamines like Claritin or Zyrtec, which are less likely to make him drowsy compared to first-generation options like Benadryl.

Ever pick up the kids from school and notice they’re covered in dried-up nose mucus? Ugh! That’s when I turn to my favorite allergy season gadget: the Nose Frida! I have at least three of these stashed around the house. I even use it on my 11-year-old (even though she protests and says, “I’m not a baby!”). But seriously, who doesn’t want to get rid of those pesky snotty noses?

Nose Frida is my number one must-have! Forget those old, moldy bulbs. Other helpful tools include a cool-mist humidifier (just remember to clean it regularly), first-generation antihistamines (check with your provider or pharmacist for the right dosing), plenty of hydration and rest, honey (for soothing throats, but only for kids over 1), and good old-fashioned vapor rub for kids 2 and up.

And don’t forget to try our bamboo washcloth with extenders—perfect for cleaning hard-to-reach spots like the nose, ears, and even between their toes during bath time!
